Position Description:

The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate starting June 1, 2024. This is a 3-year appointment, which is non-renewable, and is a 12-month full-time position. BU offers a competitive benefits package.

We seek a dynamic individual to be a main contributor to our Introductory Biology Course Transformation project. The goal of this multi-year project is a major revision of our two-semester core Introductory Biology courses, rooted in evidence-based pedagogy, as well as evaluation of the achievement of the objectives. These large-enrollment courses span the breadth of biology, from molecular biology to the global ecosystem.

The ideal candidate is a broadly-trained biologist with an interest/background in curriculum design and development. We seek a strong team player, who can work both collaboratively (with the four faculty instructors) and independently in the assessment and development of curriculum changes, as we redesign traditional lectures into student-centered, inclusive class sessions. The candidate will contribute to educational research by assisting the faculty and Center for Teaching and Learning staff in the analysis and evaluation of the strategy efficacy. The Biology department is a large, collaborative, and dynamic environment that values diversity and inclusion. This position focuses on content creation and curriculum design; there is no teaching aspect (although teaching options can be discussed).
