The School of International Letters & Cultures (SILC) Chinese Flagship program at Arizona State University (Tempe campus) invites applications for a full-time Chinese Lecturer with an anticipated start date of September 2019. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position, 9-month appointment (August 16 – May 15), open now for the 2019–2020 academic year. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. The person will teach 6 courses a year in the lower and upper division undergraduate curriculum of the Chinese Language Flagship Program, administer tutorials, perform administrative tasks for the Chinese Language Flagship Program, and participate in program-related activities.

•Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area, such as the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, or Chinese language and literature by time of appointment. 
•Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English. 
•At least two years of prior experience of teaching Chinese at the university level. 
•Experience in proficiency-oriented, and task-based teaching. 
•Experience in content-based and project-based instruction. 
•Proficiency in using modern technology for language instruction. 
•Experience organizing and overseeing study abroad programs. 
•Experience working with diverse groups/populations. 

•Familiarity with standardized tests such as OPI OPIc, and STAMP tests. 
•Experience performing administrative tasks in a university’s academic program. 
•Experience with blended teaching and learning. 
•Familiarity with on-line Chinese language courses. 
•Demonstrated success meeting the needs of underrepresented student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities.
