The Nanoscience Initiative of the Advanced Science Research Center at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York is seeking a full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty member to join their team in Fall 2020.

The City University of New York's Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC), as a part of the CUNY Graduate Center (GC), boasts the success of the University's rich past and the determination to become a national leader in visionary scientific research in the future. With research foci in the fields of Nanoscience, Photonics, Structural Biology, Neuroscience, and Environmental Sciences, the ASRC represents the nucleus of a University-wide science enterprise. It fosters the development of an integrated research network that brings together faculty, students, and post-doctoral fellows from CUNY's colleges across the five boroughs. This state-of-the-art research center houses a staff of scientists chosen for their exceptional leadership and interdisciplinary research skills. Intrinsic to the mission of the ASRC is its capacity to break down the barriers currently separating disparate, but increasingly inter-related, disciplines of basic and applied research.

In a short period of time, the ASRC’s Nanoscience Initiative,, has established itself as a major research institute in nanoscience in New York City. The Nanoscience Initiative now has 70 active researchers and has established three core user facilities in Nanofabrication, Imaging and Surface Science, which have over 650 registered users from across CUNY, other academic institutions, and industry.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in teaching and research; make key contributions to the shaping of the ASRC's cross-disciplinary Nanoscience program and the development of educational programming in Nanoscience at CUNY; and initiate new collaborative projects and activities across CUNY and other research institutions in New York City.

The faculty in Nanoscience will also lead the continued acquisition of external funding from private and public funding bodies; devise innovative mechanisms to engage the general public, the next generation, and potential donors in nanoscience and the physical sciences; and ensure compliance with federal research guidelines and University policies.

This position reports to the Nanoscience Initiative Director and will begin in Fall 2020.
