Lecturer position - Department of City and Regional Planning
The Department of City and Regional Planning in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University invites applications for a Lecturer term position beginning in fall 2022 to teach coursework in land-use law and historic preservation.
Cornell’s Department of City and Regional Planning (CRP) is a top-ranked planning department with a progressive mission. Our goal in teaching, research, and public engagement is to promote vibrant communities, urban sustainability, and social equity, especially giving attention to race, class, gender and sexual orientation. Degree programs in the Department include a B.S. degree in Urban and Regional Studies; a professional degree in Master’s in Regional Planning; a M.A. degree in Historic Preservation; M.A. and M.S. degrees in Regional Science; and a Ph.D. in both City in Regional Planning and Regional Science. The Department, with a full-time faculty of 18, draws students from across the U.S. and the world. The College of Architecture, Art, and Planning is committed to advancing scholarship in the art and science of place-making and urban design by providing a supportive, resource-rich context for collaborative studies both within the unit and across the university.
Applicants for the lecturer position should possess a graduate degree in planning or an associated field (and, ideally, a degree in law), evidence of relevant research and professional work, a commitment to teaching, and expertise in the following fields: land-use and environmental law, preservation law, and preservation finance and economics. The expectation is that the lecturer will teach two classes on these topics each semester, as determined by the department chair.
The duration of this appointment will be for at least one, and likely two years.
