The Robert J. Margolis, MD, Center for Health Policy at Duke
University seeks to address critical health policy challenges and deliver
practical, innovative, and evidence-based solutions to improve health and the
value of health care. The interdisciplinary nature of Duke-Margolis brings
together policy experts, researchers, health care professionals, and students
from across Duke’s schools of medicine, nursing, law, public policy, business,
and engineering, and fosters extensive relationships with stakeholders both
internal and external. These relationships span foundations, private sector
organizations, state and federal governments, and global entities. The Center
fosters excellence, leadership, and scholarship at every level. Duke-Margolis has an opening for a Research Director focused in real-world evidence (RWE) and real-world data (RWD). Reporting to the Duke-Margolis Deputy Director, Policy, the Research Director will be responsible for developing, managing, and directing a portfolio of projects related to improving the use of RWE and RWD within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s regulatory framework, as well as more systematic uses of RWE and RWD to support biomedical innovation and value-based payment and care. The Research Director will interact regularly with external project sponsors and collaborators, including government agencies, academic centers, advocacy organizations, medical product manufacturers, and health care organizations. The Research Director will collaborate with Duke-Margolis leadership and manage the day-to-day implementation of multiple projects to ensure the successful execution of project objectives and the Center’s strategic goals. The worksite for this position is the Duke-Margolis office in Washington, DC. Employees are teleworking locally to this area (DC/MD/VA) until on-site restrictions are lifted. Candidates based in Durham, NC would also be considered. The position will require limited travel between these locations (when appropriate after travel restrictions are lifted) to collaborate across Center faculty and research staff. This position will have supervisory responsibilities. Education/Experience Requirements:
