Post Doctoral Associate

The Sanford School of Public Policy School of Arts & Sciences, Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy, and School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join an interdisciplinary research team in working with linked administrative data to examine the effects of housing instability on child education and health. The Associate’s primary responsibilities will be to: (1) collaborate on research leading to peer-reviewed publications; (2) oversee data management, cleaning and analysis; (3) facilitate the smooth operation of the team, its inclusion of both undergraduate and graduate students and its integration with other Duke programming and initiatives; and (4) collaborate on external grant proposals. 

The Associate will be supervised by Dr. Anna Gassman-Pines, WLF Bass Connections Associate Professor of Public Policy & Psychology and Neuroscience in the Sanford School of Public Policy and specific research and training plans will be developed in collaboration with Dr. Gassman-Pines and the other faculty members on the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with and analyzing large-scale data sets, and familiarity with data management and statistical software, and will hold a Ph.D in a social or behavioral science discipline. Experience working with administrative or large-scale secondary data is strongly preferred. The Associate will be expected to participate in research leading to publication. Responsibility, initiative, good judgment, and the ability to work well on a team are required. This position is full-time and is eligible for benefits and will be 1-2 years, contingent on funding. Though there is some flexibility concerning start date, preference will generally be given to candidates available for a start date of September 1, 2019.
