Contribute to the development and achievement of University and Academic Department strategy within the context of an international, research-led university.
Deliver high quality research & scholarship in the field of study, individually and in collaboration with others, by maintaining a substantial program of research, seeking research funding opportunities and preparing proposals for such, publishing peer-reviewed outputs, undertaking and supporting colleagues in generating and securing (where relevant) intellectual property.
Undertake research-led teaching at different levels on Masters and PhD taught courses, regularly collecting, and responding to, student feedback.
Contribute to curriculum, resource, program and subject design, development, management and review as required to ensure that learning and teaching in the Academic Department and across disciplines reflects best practice and a command of the field.
Provide general support and guidance to students, resolving issues and/or referring to specialist parties, where appropriate.
Supervise and advise students throughout the learning journey
Actively support and participate in student recruitment and admission through promoting the university programs and providing potential students with advice and guidance throughout the process.
Demonstrate research leadership and promote and ensure compliance of self and others with good practice in relation to the conduct of research, the ethics policy, and other relevant university policies.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers within and outside the Academic Department and university who are working in related areas
Play a key role in the collaborative research program of the Academic Department
Lead and participate in bids for external research funding and major new initiatives
Organize, plan and conduct courses at appropriate levels for students given the subject matter
Incorporate the latest knowledge and research into the subject matter of the courses
Ensure to apply different methods to engage the interest and curiosity of students and to stimulate their willingness to think critically about ideas and concepts
Examine the organization, materials, readings, and approaches related to the courses on regular basis.
Participate in service activities both within and outside MBZUAI such as consultancies, training sessions as well as government and industry conferences, seminars or other community activities
Contribute to designing, developing, revising and updating the overall curriculum for the university programs
Manage any allocated research start-up funds granted for research activities, conferences, trainings and other professional development activities.
Provide guidance and mentoring of early stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, development of research proposals, career development and related fellowship proposals
Disseminate research findings through national and international conferences and other outlets
Maintain scholarly activity and keep up to date with developments in the field as necessary to carry out the duties of the post.
Be part of academic and none-academic committees as required.
Ensure continuous improvement across all services of the Academic Department
Undertake any other related duties as assigned by line manager. |
