Department: Psychology Position: Endowed Eminent Scholar in Health Psychology Rank: Associate Professor or Professor

Description:

The Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Eminent Scholar in Health Psychology, a senior faculty position with an endowment from the State of Ohio. The department and the search committee are open to all fields of inquiry within health psychology but are most interested in applicants with an international distinction and a commitment to facilitating and providing leadership in the growing sub-discipline of health psychology. Additionally, we are interested in candidates who support the department’s mission of working towards an inclusive academy.

The Department of Psychology at Ohio State is known for its world-renowned graduate and undergraduate programs across the breadth of the psychological discipline. The department houses a community-based, state-of-the-art psychological services center, an interdisciplinary neuroimaging center (including MRI and EEG), and in-house animal facilities. Importantly, the health scholar may find interesting collaborations with faculty in clinical psychology, social psychology, quantitative psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioral neuroscience. Moreover, the faculty in the department actively collaborate with colleges across the university that complement the research expertise and infrastructure in the department. Notable units with whom our faculty currently collaborate include the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (with the 3rd oldest Clinical Research Center in the country), the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research, the College of Public Health, the NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Total Health and Wellness Center at the College of Nursing, the Chronic Brain Injury Initiative, and the Exercise Science—Health and Performance Group.

The Department of Psychology is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive professoriate. To that end, we encourage faculty who are traditionally underrepresented in the academy to apply for this position. Additionally, we recognize that applying for senior positions requires a particular kind of commitment. We invite those considering an application to contact us in advance to discuss the position. Please reach out to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Ruchika Prakash at Prakash.30@osu.edu.

Qualifications: In addition to a distinguished research program, successful candidates should have a well-established record of research funding and experience teaching and supervising graduate and undergraduate students.

Successful candidates should articulate their potential contributions to the department’s commitments to inclusive excellence through their research, teaching, outreach, and/or engagement.

A PhD in Psychology is required. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
