Description: The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the sociology of immigration to commence autumn semester 2024. We seek candidates who are well-grounded in sociological perspectives relevant to understanding the challenges and opportunities presented by the modern immigration era. Scholars who can engage with other programs and interdisciplinary research centers at the university (e.g., Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, Institute for Population Research, Criminal Justice Research Center, Center for Ethnic Studies) are of particular interest. Responsibilities of the position include maintaining a robust research program, including actively seeking external funding, contributing to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse body of graduate and undergraduate students, and providing engaged service to the university and the profession.
Qualifications: Applicants
are expected to have a Ph.D. in sociology or a related field by the start of
employment and present evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and
research. Appointment is contingent on the university’s
verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or
university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
