The Department of Physics at UC Santa Barbara will appoint a Simons Postdoctoral Fellow beginning Fall 2010 for a recent PhD (must have received the PhD in the 2009-2010 academic year) in Theoretical Physics who is carrying out research in Astrophysics, Condensed Matter Physics or High Energy Physics. The Simons Postdoctoral Fellow will be in residence in the UC Santa Barbara Physics Department for three years and will have a $7000 research budget per year for travel and other research purposes. In close proximity to the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), the UC Santa Barbara Physics Department has broad research in all areas of theoretical physics. Research seminars and visitors to the campus and KITP number more than 1000 a year in theoretical physics, providing a rich intellectual atmosphere.
