INTRODUCTION The Department of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor-in-Residence, beginning in Fall 2021 at the Storrs campus. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position that has the possibility of leading to a multi-year contract. The position is suitable for candidates who wish to pursue a career with an emphasis on undergraduate teaching with continued growth in this direction. The successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate level and will teach introductory undergraduate courses which may include Peoples and Cultures of the World, Social Anthropology and Introduction to Environmental Studies. The teaching load will be seven three-credit courses, with some repeat courses across the academic year or the equivalent. The successful candidate may also perform service to the department and/or campus as requested. The Department of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut offers undergraduate and graduate training, with internationally recognized strengths in medical anthropology, human rights, archaeology, and biocultural anthropology. Research, teaching, and advocacy in the Department seek to understand the creation and maintenance of social inequities while simultaneously identifying ways to reduce or eliminate them. Founded in 1881, the UConn is a Land Grant and Sea Grant institution and member of the Space Grant Consortium. APPOINTMENT TERMS This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position, which may lead to long-term multi-year contracts. The teaching load for this position is seven 3-credit courses per year, or the equivalent. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2021.
