Physics Department, University of South Florida
University of South Florida Department of Physics, Computational Biophysics Group, is looking to fill one Postdoctoral position. Successful candidate will work on investigating pore formation by Alzheimer’s disease-linked amyloid beta proteins and the calcium hypothesis of Alzheimer’s disease using computational modeling driven by fluorescence microscopic data of calcium signals at single channel, clusters of calcium channels, and whole-cell levels, and patch-clamp single channel data. The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possibility of renewal upon performance.
Required qualifications: (i) PhD in Computational Biophysics/Biology or related field; (ii) strong research accomplishments in computational biology/biophysics and a demonstrated record of research productivity; (iii) excellent computer programming skills. Knowledge of single channel Markov chain modeling, developing and numerically solving reaction diffusion equations, and a working knowledge of C++ and Java is a plus. Applicants should e-mail curriculum vitae, list of publications, and contact information for three references to Dr. Ghanim Ullah at email@example.com.
