Postdoctoral Research Positions University of Washington – Department of Physics

The InQubator for Quantum Simulation (IQuS) at the University of Washington anticipates appointing one or two fulltime Postdoctoral Scholars to start in September 2023. Outstanding candidates in quantum information theory, quantum simulation, lattice gauge theory, Standard Model physics, broadly defined, to be part of the Fermilab QuantISED Program focusing on the quantum simulation of quantum field theories, are invited to apply. These positions are full-time, 12-month (one-year) appointment, which may be extended (upon successful performance) up to a maximum term of three years, subject to funding and mutual agreement. The Postdoctoral Scholar title is limited to five years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at UW and other institutions.

IQuS includes local researchers, visitors, and community-driven workshops at the Institute of Nuclear Theory, along with close connections with national laboratories and technology companies, to help create and disseminate new ideas and grow a quantum-ready workforce. Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.

Applicants must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent degree) in quantum physics broadly defined by the date of the appointment.
