The research group of Prof. Frank Wilczek at the Department of Physics at Stockholm
University in collaboration with Nordita invites applications for a postdoctoral
position in theoretical physics connected to axions. The scope of the search
includes condensed matter analogues of axions as well the particle physics around
axions and their cosmological implications. Candidates with interest in
experimental design are also also encouraged to apply. This position is the first
in several appointments that are expected to be made by Frank Wilczek, with the
goal to build a world leading research activity related to axions. The funding is
provided by the European Research Council under the Advanced Grant Program and
the Swedish National Research Council. The Department of Physics together with Nordita is an
internationally lively research environment, situated in the AlbaNova University Center with about
240 employees, 90 PhD students and 250 undergraduate students.

Main responsibilities: Research in the subjects decribed above. The successful candidate will work as
part of Frank Wilczek’s research group at Department of Physics and Nordita, Stockholm. Qualification
requirements: A suitable background is a Ph.D. in Physics with emphasis on theoretical research as
described above. Assessment criteria: The Ph.D. degree should have been completed no more than
three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special
circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in
trade unions, or similar. The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one of the focus
research areas of the group, and is expected to be able to do independent work, work in collaboration
with other group members and participate in the supervision of Ph.D. students.

Terms of employment: The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years,
with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date 1 september 2018 or as per
