The University of Massachusetts Medical School invites applications for the position of Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS). Successful candidates will lead a world-class Ph.D. training program that prepares students for successful careers as researchers and thought-leaders in academia, industry, and government.

The successful candidate will be a proven innovator and creative graduate educator who will enable the GSBS faculty to optimally recruit, educate and train our Ph.D. students for successful careers. The GSBS Dean oversees the recruitment, admission, and retention of a talented, motivated, and diverse student body.

The University of Massachusetts Medical School GSBS comprises 388 active research faculty who mentor 304 Ph.D. and 75 M.D./Ph.D. students.

• Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree;
• 10+ years postdoctoral and faculty experience
• Experience directing an NIH-funded research laboratory;
• Proven record of successful Ph.D. student mentorship;
• Classroom experience at the graduate level;
• Experience in developing, enacting and or evaluating graduate level curriculum
• Administrative experience in higher education;
• Proven record of collaborative leadership and relationship building with all constituents; and
• Proven problem solving skills who can capitalize on strengths, administer collegially, and advocate effectively for the University, the GSBS, and its faculty and students.
