The Stanford Chemistry Department invites applications for a Ph.D.-level Lecturer position to begin autumn 2018 to join a team of four other Lecturers in the Department. The candidate should have background either in the biochemistry/organic or the general/organic area. This position is a full-time, 9-month, fixed-term, full-benefit appointment. The initial appointment is for 2 years, with reappointment terms of 3 years. Summer instruction positions are also available. The teaching duties vary quarterly between instructing an independent organic laboratory to co-instructing an integrated lecture/laboratory course with a faculty member. The department is moving rapidly toward active learning, thus the ideal candidate will also be instrumental in developing and evaluating new activities to engage students in active learning sessions. In addition to instruction, the candidate will be responsible for evolving laboratory exercises, mentoring course teaching assistants, and participating in Department committees, as appropriate.
