Big Data Scientist Associate or Full Professor, Tenure or Tenure-Track
The Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School in Worcester, MA, is recruiting a tenured or tenure-eligible faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor level for the Division of Biostatistics and Health Services Research. Our department is committed to “science that makes a difference” in addressing health equity. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in big data science, machine learning, and deep learning. Our ideal candidate would have a substantive record of published innovation in data science and will be supported in developing or enhancing a robust independent research program. The position is focused on methodological innovation, with ample opportunities for collaborating and consulting with biomedical scientists, as well as doctoral-level teaching and mentoring.
QHS was founded in June, 2009 and currently has over 30 primary faculty members distributed across 4 Divisions: Biostatistics and Health Services Research; Epidemiology of Chronic Disease and Vulnerable Populations; Health Informatics and Implementations Science; and Outcomes Measurement Science. QHS also hosts a doctoral program in Clinical and Population Health Research and a methods consulting and service unit, the Quantitative Methods Core. QHS faculty are Principal Investigators on extramural grants totaling over $30 million. UMass is a collaborative and dynamic institution that has held a Clinical and Translation Science Award since 2010; the Medical School now garners over $250 million dollars in annual extramural funding. QHS is a key driver of clinical and translational research at UMass.
