The particle physics group at The University of Adelaide has broad interests in theoretical particle physics, including the collider phenomenology of beyond-Standard Model theories (at the LHC and future facilities), model building, particle astrophysics and cosmological tests of fundamental particle physics. The group plays a leading role in the GAMBIT global fit collaboration, and the School of Physical Sciences also hosts strong groups on the ATLAS, IceCube, CTA, HESS, LIGO, SABRE South and Pierre Auger experiments. Close collaboration between theorists and experimentalists is actively encouraged.

We are seeking to appoint a theoretical particle physicist on a 2 year contract starting in 2018. The successful candidate will have a PhD in theoretical particle physics (or an expected graduation close to the appointment date), and a competitive track record of publication in relevant areas. They will take a leading role in one or more aspects of our research programme, including student supervision. In exceptional cases, we will also consider members of the ATLAS collaboration with a strong record of independent publications in phenomenology, with an understanding that they will contribute at least half of their time to theoretical projects.

1. PhD (or thesis submitted) in relevant area of theoretical particle physics (or, in exceptional cases, in experimental particle physics with a large component in phenomenology)
2. A commitment to research excellence in theoretical particle physics
3. Demonstrated publication track record in theoretical particle physics in leading scientific journals
4. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, in addition to working effectively as a member of a research team
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. 6. Advanced analytical and computational skills, including demonstrated ability to perform numerical and symbolic calculations.
