The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of South Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level starting in the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering or closely related discipline by the time of hire. The department is looking for candidates who can strengthen the core competencies and have expertise in areas including, but not limited to, digital IC design, embedded systems, computer security, machine intelligence, high performance computing, or other closely related research areas. Outstanding candidates in all areas of computer engineering are encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to have a track record and ability to teach computer engineering core courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, communicate effectively, potential to establish and conduct sponsored research, and a strong publication record. The successful candidate is also expected to have the ability to contribute to the college's continuing commitment to strong undergraduate and graduate teaching and research. The University of South Alabama is a public, doctoral-level institution. The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department is housed in a 155,000 s.f. state-of-the-art building opened in 2012. The department offers BSEE and BSCpE degrees that are ABET accredited and MSEE degree. The College of Engineering offers the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Systems Engineering.

Located in the beautiful historic city of Mobile, the university is a public Doctoral Research-Intensive institution enrolling over 16,000 students in its nine colleges and schools.
