Position Description:    

Program in Molecular Medicine University of Massachusetts Medical School Research Instructor Position The Program in Molecular Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical School (http://umassmed.edu/pmm/) is seeking an outstanding individual for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member at the Research Instructor level.

The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
  1.  Candidate will have successfully completed postdoctoral work that has usually resulted in publications of papers in peer reviewed journals.
  2. Candidate will have demonstrated ability to teach in the laboratory setting (graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, and staff) and/or through the successful presentation of seminars.
  3. Candidate will have a commitment to learn to write and submit competitive grant applications as PI or co-investigator under the oversight of a research mentor.
  4. Extensive experience with Drosophila maintenance, genetic manipulation, tissue staining and data analysis.
  5. Experience with intestinal biology in Drosophila and some experience with intestinal biology in mouse models.
  6. Cell and molecular biology techniques including DNA, RNA and protein analysis, and also genomic and proteomic analysis.
  7. Candidate will have the desire and aptitude to move toward greater scientific independence through the initial development of collaborative research projects.
  8. Strong oral and written communications skills; strong interpersonal skills.
