The Engineering Student Project teams is a large program encompassing 29 teams that provides opportunities for over 1,100 students from all of the engineering disciplines, and many related disciplines across the university, to participate in hands-on interdisciplinary design, development and construction projects. These projects utilize their technical knowledge, creativity, entrepreneurism, and marketing, business and leadership skills to engage in national and international competitions, to develop solutions to critical world problems, or to develop service projects for broad communities. The director, in this high visibility, college level position, among other tasks, works with department faculty and staff to:
  • Integrate the teams into the overall intellectual and educational activities of the college
  • Ensure that teams provide opportunities for a broad set of disciplines
  • Develop college wide policies and procedures governing team activities Coordinate training programs, use of facilities, and funding to support multiple teams
  • Advise students in technical, teamwork, leadership, communication and fundraising activities
  • Represent the college and the program to alumni and corporate sponsors to enhance external support. 
Required Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will possess at least a Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or related field (PhD preferred) with 3-5 years related experience in engineering project management, higher education administration, or a similar technical role. Must have experience working with students and/or industry professionals, including teaching, advising and mentoring. Experience in project management, project implementation, evaluation, budgeting, proposal writing, and fundraising is desired. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. A proven ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, students, as well as corporate representatives and alumni, is critical, as is a demonstrated ability to work well both collaboratively and independently.

A PhD degree, or extensive experience managing broad multidisciplinary projects with multiple stakeholders, is preferred.
