The laboratory of Dr. Nelson Chao, Duke University School of Medicine, Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate for an exciting newly funded project. Our group has a diverse and stimulating environment with nationally and internationally recognized projects in basic and translation research as well as clinical trial studies. We are interested in studying hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) and its most significant complication, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Our long-term objective is to understand the immunological events driving GVHD in order to prevent this from occurring in patients.

This position requires a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or other relevant areas of biomedical sciences. Ideally, the candidate should possess experience in one or more of the following areas: 1) In vivo mouse models (willingness to work with animal models is a must), 2) Immunology (flow cytometry) 3) Molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, next generation sequencing, ELISA/Western blot analysis, and molecular cloning). Experience in bio-informatics is a plus. The ideal candidate should be motivated, innovative, with strong problem-solving and interpersonal skill and flexible to learn new techniques.
