The Department of Sociology and the Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGS) Program at Boston University invites applications for a Full Time Lecturer (non-tenure track) position beginning Fall 2018. The initial term of the appointment is two years, with the possibility of renewal. We seek candidates who specialize in the study of gender, social inequalities and feminist social movements, ideally with additional interests in the sociology of sports and childhood and youth. We are looking for a colleague who has a strong background in sociological theory and methods combined with teaching and research interests that are anchored in interdisciplinary studies of gender and sexualities. A PhD in sociology along with demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching are required. The position will require teaching one or more sections of Introduction to Sociology as well as the core WGS courses titled Sexism in the 21st Century and Interdisciplinary Introduction to Gender and Sexuality. The ideal candidate will also be able to offer courses on the Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Childhood and Youth, and Sociology of Sports.
