Professor of Social Work: Child Development, Psychopathology and Well-Being

The McGill University School of Social Work invites applications for a full‐time tenure‐track position with an expected start date on August 1st 2018. Appointment is expected to be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will have an internationally recognized record of funded research and publications in the areas of child development, child psychopathology and child mental health. A Ph.D. in social work or a related field and a BSW or MSW degree are required. The School is committed to diversity and equity; it welcomes applications from visible minorities, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, persons of minority sexual orientation or gender identity, and others who may contribute to diversification.

The successful candidate will play a leadership role in the School and the Faculty of Arts in linking to McGill’s Healthy Brains Healthy Lives Program (HBHL), a seven-year $84 million federally funded initiative building on McGill’s world renowned expertise in neuroscience. This appointment builds on the academic renewal of the School of Social Work which includes eight recent faculty appointments and two Canada Research Chairs; the development of Canada’s first Masters in Couple and Family Therapy within a School of Social Work; an expanded doctoral program; a generalist BSW curriculum; and an MSW offering three specialist streams (children and families, health and social care, and international and community development). The School is the home of the Centre for Research on Children and Families (CRCF), the CREGES-McGill Social Gerontology Centre, the International Community Action Network (ICAN) and the Centre for Research on Children, War, Violence & Arts-based Technologies (CREATE). A Tier 1 CRC is a senior chair to be held by a full Professor or an Associate Professor who will earn a senior promotion within two years of acceptance of the award.
