     Department of Medicine

  The Department of Medicine is home to physicians, other healthcare practitioners, scientists, educators, staff, and trainees committed to enhancing the health of our local and global communities through patient care, research, and education. The Department is represented by 19 divisions: Cardiovascular Medicine, Clinical Informatics, Community Internal Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Hematology and Oncology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Medicine-Pediatrics, Palliative Care, Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, Pulmonary Allergy and Critical Care Medicine, Renal Medicine, Rheumatology, and Transfusion Medicine.

 The Department of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School in Worcester, MA is recruiting an eligible non-tenure eligible faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicant must have a Ph.D. in some area of science and strong editing/communication skills

·       Responsible for developing and submitting a variety of scientific materials for peer reviewed journals, internal and external print and website communications.

·       Plan and prepare major departmental grant initiatives

·       Work with Offices of Faculty Affairs and Research to facilitate faculty and staff virtual networks,  and promote education and career events for department

·       Collaborate with Communications and Development to promote internal and external communications for the department/center.

·       Maintain social media presences for lay audiences

·       Plan and execute and writing for DOM review as well as grant writing for faculty within DOM

·       Assist in the identification and development of training materials

·       Edits and proofreads articles, book chapters, grants, abstracts, posters, oral and visual presentations for style and content

·       Prepares figures and illustrations for publications

·       Conducts review of medical literature and summarizes findings

·       Work with the Chair/Director to identify and maintain a cost effective scientific and public communication plan

·       Perform other job duties as required.
