Position Overview: The School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty positions at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to serve as the Director and Chair of the Department of Nursing. The position will start in the Fall semester of 2018.

We are seeking an outstanding faculty member to join our rapidly expanding School that includes new academic programs, expanded facilities, state-of-art equipment, community partnerships, and funded research initiatives from the NIH, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and more. The School of Health Sciences serves roughly 600 student majors in five undergraduate programs including Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Public Health, Nutritional Sciences, Exercise Science, and Rehabilitation Sciences. The School also has rapidly expanding graduate programs in Health and Wellness Management, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Community Health Education, and Athletic Training. In addition, plans are underway to initiate other undergraduate and graduate academic programs.

In January 2018, the School of Health Sciences submitted an initial application to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to begin a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Anticipated start date for the BSN is Fall 2019. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as Director and Chair of the Department of Nursing, teach undergraduate nursing students, advise students, and maintain a productive scholarly agenda in their particular areas of expertise. The candidate will have earned a doctorate in nursing or a related field, a master’s level degree in nursing, and must be registered to practice professional nursing in the state of Massachusetts. The candidate should have experience developing nursing curriculum, supervising/mentoring faculty, establishing clinical sites, and accreditation.

The Director and Chair of Nursing is expected to provide the visionary leadership for the continued development of the BSN and Nursing Department, its program, resources, and future direction in compliance with accrediting bodies. Reporting to the Associate Dean of the School of Health Sciences, the Director and Chair of Nursing will represent the Nursing Department as a member of the college’s management team and will work cooperatively with others within the school, College and community to achieve successful outcomes. The Director and Chair of Nursing is responsible for the administration, planning, implementation and evaluation of the BSN program. The Director and Chair of Nursing will prepare and administer the Nursing Department budget and is responsible for the fiscal well being of the program, will grow student enrollments, maintain student and faculty retention, and exhibit effective leadership for faculty, staff and students in the Department of Nursing.

Qualifications: We are looking for an experienced nursing faculty administrator whom has a strong desire for an academic appointment focused on advancing a new program in nursing. Candidates will present strong evidence of successful leadership and administration of a baccalaureate-nursing program.
