An opportunity exists to join our research group in pain management and pain care delivery. We are interested in the treatment of pain in the context of the opioid epidemic, with a focus on the care of patients with acute on chronic pain and on long-term opioid therapy. Presently we have active projects in: •Innovative transitional pain care delivery for patients with chronic pain and opioid tolerance presenting for inpatient admission •Refinement of postoperative opioid analgesic prescribing and accompanying education to align with patients’ needs; including the development of processes to drive adoption of these refinements in clinical practice •Leveraging administrative and electronic health record data to develop insights into the treatment of pain across a major, integrated health system

We seek a highly-motivated individual with strong project management skills to join our team. A PhD degree is required with training in neuroscience, pharmacology, biostatistics, health delivery/management, nursing, and/or a related field. Experience with statistical analysis and project management is required; experience with human subjects protections and accompanying regulatory oversight is preferred. The candidate will work in a strong interdisciplinary and collaborative environment at Duke University and Duke Medical Center. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a basic sciences background looking to cross-train in clinical research.
