PhD stipend for up to 4 years, provided by Foundation for Polish Science: 3 500 – 4 500 PLN per month (830 – 1 060€ per month), no taxes Starting date: to be arranged with a candidate.

Qualifications: 1. MSc (or equivalent degree) in physics, materials science or related disciplines 2. Outstanding Master Thesis and exam grades 3. Proficiency in spoken and written English

PhD thesis will concern: (i) development of new topological materials, (ii) studies in the area of MBE growth of new topological materials, their nanostructurizations and advanced studies of their properties by various methods to including synchrotron radiation or low temperature technics, (iii) theoretical or computer approaches.

The MagTop Centre (International Research Centre MagTop) started to operate on Febr 1st 2017 and is funded by a grant won by Professors Tomasz Dietl and Tomasz Wojtowicz within the programme of the Foundation for Polish Science, carried out from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund under the Smart Growth Operational Programme (SG OP), Priority Axis 4: Increasing the research potential, Measure 4.3: International Research Agendas ( research-agendas-ira/). The grant initial budget is for 5 years and worth about 9 million Euros, primarily to support about 20 researchers selected via international competitions under the supervision of MagTop’s Board chaired by Prof. Tomasz Story and International Scientific Committee chaired by Prof. Laurens W. Molenkamp. MagTop activities involve strong local and international collaborations, the strategic partner unit being Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany, particularly the Institute EP3 headed by Professor Laurens W.
