Associate or Assistant Professor (Quantum Information Theory or Related Areas in Theoretical High Energy Physics)

Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP), Kyoto University invites an application for a non-tenured faculty position at the associate or assistant professor level in quantum information theory or related areas in theoretical high energy physics.

YITP founded the Center for Gravitational Physics (CGP) in April, 2016 in order to encourage interdisciplinary studies on various aspects of physics related to gravity. Current faculty members at YITP are conducting active researches in a broad range of theoretical physics, including statistical mechanics, condensed matter theory, quantum information theory, nuclear physics, particle physics, string theory, general relativity and cosmology.

The new faculty member will also belong to CGP and is expected to conduct independent research and also to contribute to long term workshop programs in YITP. The appointment starts from October, 2018 or later. This position is for five years with a possible extension of two more years, depending upon his/her research performance.

The salary will be determined by the pay scale of Kyoto University. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or related areas and are expected to demonstrate an outstanding record of research accomplishment and creativity.
