Open positions:

One or two postdoc positions in the theory of mesoscopic and device physics for topological quantum computation are available in State Key Laboratory of Low-Dimensional Quantum Physics, Department of Physics, Tsinghua University, beginning in the fall of 2018. One of the positions is a joint position of Prof. Dong E. Liu (theorist) and Prof. Hao Zhang (experimentalist). The successful candidate will be expected to perform theoretical and/or numerical studies in quantum transport, quantum control, qubit validation, error analysis and corrections for mesoscopic topological systems and topologically protected Majorana qubit systems. The candidate will also be expected to work closely with experimentalists (Prof. Hao Zhang‚Äôs group) and analyze experimental data. 


Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (received within the last 3 years) in physics and other related disciplines
  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics and condensed matter physics

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • The concept of topological quantum computation: theory and physical realizations
  • Transport theory in Mesoscopic quantum systems,
  • Mesoscopic superconductivity, quantum confined systems, Coulomb blockade phenomena,

With one of the following experiences in quantum computing would be a very strong plus:

  • Superconducting qubits and circuit-QED
  • Theory of quantum measurement and quantum control
  • Qubit validation theory, e.g. randomized benchmarking, quantum state tomography

However, all applicants with a background of the theory of quantum and condensed matter physics, who want to learn and study topological quantum computation are welcome to apply.

Salary: 

Appointments will be made with a 2-year initial contract, renewable up to 3 years depending on the funding. The initial salary is 200K-250K Chinese Yuan per year according to qualifications, and a salary increase or bonus is possible at the end of each year based on the performance. Highly qualified candidates are encouraged to apply the fellowship at Tsinghua University with the salary being 300k Yuan per year.
