The Department of Government at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in political theory, with a broad interest in candidates working in the periods of medieval, Renaissance, and early modern thought, as well as in the areas of state theory, religion and politics, and the history of Continental political thought. The department has a strong record of research and teaching in the history of political thought, broadly conceived, and applications are encouraged from scholars whose work speaks to this tradition.

A Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment is required, as is evidence of excellence, or potential for excellence, in research and publication. The teaching load is two courses per semester, typically a mixture of undergraduate and Ph.D.-level offerings.
