Cornell University, located in Ithaca, New York, is an inclusive, dynamic, and innovative Ivy League University and New York’s land-grant institution. Its staff, faculty, and students impart an uncommon sense of larger purpose and contribute to creative ideas and best practices to further the University’s mission of teaching, research, and outreach.

A post doc is sought for the laboratory of Professor Andrew Yen at Cornell University to work in the field of molecular mechanisms of leukemia therapy. The laboratory studies signal transduction and gene regulatory molecular mechanistic features of retinoic acid-induced leukemic, cell differentiation and cell cycle arrest. Retinoic acid is a developmental morphogen, an essential dietary factor as the active metabolite of Vitamin A, a chemotherapeutic agent for cancer, a teratogen, and a toxicological environmental pollutant in industrial waste streams; and we are defining novel mechanisms of action to better understand its many paradoxical effects. Strong experimental molecular biological skills are needed, as well as knowledge of bioinformatics. The laboratory uses cell biological, genetic engineering, flow cytometric, and biochemical approaches to determine the pathways that govern retinoic acid-directed cell differentiation and cell cycle arrest of stem like progenitor cells. The link below lists some publications from the laboratory https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/myncbi/andrew.yen.1/bibliography/40528766/public/?sort=date&direction=descending

Qualifications: The applicant should have a recent Ph.D. in physiology, biology, biochemistry or related field and have strong molecular biological technical skills. Background in bioinformatics analysis is also desirable. A record of publication will be important.

To apply, send a CV, cover letter, statement of research interest and contact information for 3 references to Andrew Yen at ay13@cornell.edu.

Diversity and Inclusion are a part of Cornell University’s heritage. We are a recognized employer and educator valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.
