Position Description: |
Postdoctoral Researcher A two-year postdoctoral position in physical oceanography is
available at the Earth and Ocean Sciences Division in the Nicholas School of
the Environment at Duke University. The postdoctoral researcher, under the
supervision of Susan Lozier, is expected to work on projects related to the Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic
Program (OSNAP; www.o-snap.org). Example
projects include: 1) a study of the mechanisms responsible for variability in
the volume, heat and freshwater fluxes across the OSNAP line, 2) an
investigation of the linkages between the transport and properties of the
overflow waters across the Greenland-Scotland Ridge and the variability of
these overflow waters in the subpolar gyre, and 3) the impact of OSNAP dynamics
on the downstream variability in the North Atlantic basin. Postdoctoral researchers are also expected to
work with the PI to develop new research projects. The initial term of the appointment will be 12 months, with the
possibility of extension based on performance. Start date: On or about November 1, 2018. Salary: Commensurate with the individual’s experience.
