Position Description:    

The physics department at Duke University is seeking to make a postdoctoral research associate appointment in experimental condensed matter physics in the area of Quantum Materials. Candidates with experience in material design/synthesis/crystal growth, physical properties characterization, and x-ray/neutron scattering techniques are particularly encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates are expected to perform sample synthesis/single crystal growth and bulk characterization measurements at Duke University. X-ray and neutron scattering experiments will be conducted at the national and international user facilities. Advanced characterization measurements under extreme sample environments will be conducted at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. This position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon funding availability and performance.

Applicants should hold a PhD in condensed matter physics, solid state chemistry, or experimental materials science.
