Position Description:    

The Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts) (https://biology.mit.edu/) is conducting a search for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, effective July 1, 2019, or as soon thereafter as possible.

We seek candidates in the area of structural biology, particularly those that make use of state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and/or cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET).  MIT is opening a new cryo-EM/ET facility equipped with a 300kV Titan Krios and a 200kV Talos Arctica microscope in 2018.  The successful candidate will have laboratory space in the Main Building of the MIT Department of Biology.

Applicants are expected to share our commitment to undergraduate and graduate education by teaching courses and supervising graduate and undergraduate research, as well as develop and lead a vibrant, independent research program.  We are also particularly interested in candidates who will help promote and provide diversity. 

Candidates must hold a PhD in the biological, chemical, physical, mathematical, or computational sciences, or in an engineering field; or equivalent terminal degree.
