This position is for a postdoctoral candidate for a joint position between Duke, MIT, and Stanford, at a 50/30/20 split, respectively.

The candidate will primarily be located at Duke where they will conduct research in the Bergelson lab on the acquisition of early phonetic and morpho-syntactic knowledge, using both experimental methods and large-scale corpus analyses with 1-3-year-olds. This will entail using existing publicly available datasources and datasets available at and to be collected in the Bergelson lab at Duke. Along with the Levy lab at MIT, the postdoc will lead work on statistical data analysis and computational modeling of child language acquisition; Levy will provide supervision of analysis and modeling work, and the postdoc will facilitate collaboration between Bergelson and Levy on jointly leveraging naturalistic data, controlled experiments, and computational modeling to improve our understanding of how young children learn their native language through input and interactions in their environment. The postdoc will also collaborate with the Frank lab at Stanford, where they will head the Wordful team, coordinating with third-party developers and RAs at Stanford to work towards a first study and paper validating the app. This postdoc will engage in scientific planning, coordination, writing, and data analysis.
