The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (rank commensurate with experience) position in Nepali language beginning July 1, 2019. Initial one-year probationary contract with possibility of multi-year renewals, contingent upon merit, the continued needs of the department, and availability of program funding.

Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and native speaker-level competency in written and spoken Nepali are required, as is prior language teaching experience and the ability to teach all course levels autonomously. Also required are an explicit understanding of the linguistic properties of Nepali; knowledge of the cultural background necessary to teach the language; familiarity with language-teaching methodologies, including technology-related pedagogy and flexibility in using different teaching methodologies, including video conference/distance learning; excellent English skills; and the ability to prepare pedagogical materials for Nepali language instruction.
