Position Description:    

The Department of Art, Art History & Visual Studies at Duke University in Durham, NC invites applications and nominations for a non-tenure-track, renewable regular-rank position at the assistant professor of the practice level to begin July 2019. Candidates must work in the area of computational media arts practice, with possible emphases on web design and development, data visualization, information aesthetics, extended reality, app development, or related areas. The teaching load is four courses per year, with additional expectations for advising and collaborative engagement in programmatic initiatives such as the Computational Media, Arts & Cultures (http://cmac.duke.edu) graduate programs. The successful candidate will have a critically-engaged research practice related to Departmental initiatives in media arts, digital humanities, and/or computer-related communications. PhD or equivalent preferred.
