Description: The Fontana Corrosion Center and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University ( invite applications for a regular tenure-track faculty appointment in the area of corrosion science and engineering. Appointment is anticipated at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor; tenure will be possible based on experience, research track record and technical accomplishments.  Appointment at the rank of Professor will also be considered when warranted. Corrosion research has a long tradition at Ohio State, and the successful applicant will be expected to deepen and complement existing departmental strengths in corrosion, materials characterization and computational materials science to develop compelling teaching and research programs. Of particular interest are candidates with strengths in multi-scale modeling of corrosion phenomena, corrosion-mediated failure mechanisms and/or high temperature corrosion / oxidation, but other specializations within the field of corrosion will also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain active sponsored research programs, teach core undergraduate and/or graduate courses and be an active participant in the international corrosion science community.

Qualifications: candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in materials science and engineering or in a closely related field. Research leadership is expected including the ability to attract significant federal funding and industrial partnerships to sustain a vibrant research program. Additionally, the candidate should have evidence of being able to work cooperatively and collegially to advance research and teaching programs with greatest efficiency and highest impact. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2019.
