Description
|
Yale-NUS College, a collaboration
between the National University of Singapore and Yale University, invites applications for an open rank,
tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Chemistry. We seek outstanding applicants in any field
of chemistry, and particularly encourage those with experience in computational,
analytical, physical, or environmental chemistry.
Applicants must demonstrate an outstanding
track record for their career stage. A PhD and postdoctoral research
experience is essential. Familiarity or experience with the purpose of a liberal
arts education would be advantageous. A clear ability in and passion for
undergraduate education is essential.
Research achievements should include publications in leading
peer-reviewed journals commensurate with the candidate’s career stage, as
well as a demonstrated ability/potential to secure research funding.
The successful candidate will work within a
multi-disciplinary teaching team to deliver a curriculum typical of those
offered by top liberal arts colleges. This will involve contributing to
the Yale-NUS
Common Curriculum (http://www.yale-nus.edu.sg/curriculum/common-curriculum) as
well as specialized courses within the Physical Sciences (https://physicalsciences.yale-nus.edu.sg/). The successful applicant will
also be expected to develop an active research programme that involves
student engagement as well as competing for external research funding.
The successful candidate will be expected to begin
duties in time for the start of the 2019-2020 academic year. Salary,
benefits, and leave policies are competitive with those at an international
level. Yale-NUS College is committed to supporting faculty research through
start-up grants, travel allowances, study leave, research support and
institutional assistance with proposal preparation and administration of
external grant funding.

vitae, including a complete list of publications with DOIs; statements on
a) research interests, b) teaching experience, and c) teaching philosophy,
including how these might fit with the College’s particular mission and
curriculum; teaching evaluations (if available), and other relevant documents.

Additionally,
applicants for the tenure-track position are also responsible for ensuring
three (3) academic referees each submit a written statement of support via

academic referees.
Review
of complete applications will begin November 15, 2018 and continue until the
position is filled. Inquiries should be made to the Science Divisional

on-campus visit during January or February, 2019 for each short-listed
candidate. This will involve a research presentation, a sample class, and
formal interviews.
