Position Description:    

The Department of Linguistics at Cornell University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computational Linguistics beginning July 1, 2019. A strong research record and research program in Computational Linguistics (including Natural Language Processing and computational methodologies in linguistic theory) is desired. Candidates will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the area or specialization (such as Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, and advanced courses on computational linguistic topics), as well as a course in at least one of the core subfields of linguistics.

The department has a lively undergraduate major and a vibrant Ph.D. program which trains students in phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, historical linguistics, and computational linguistics. Linguistics faculty and graduate students in computational linguistics are part of an active cross-departmental NLP group, with six faculty and about thirty graduate students. Qualifications: Ph.D. must be completed by August 1, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
