Position Description:

A funded postdoctoral position is available for immediate incorporation in the Cifuentes laboratory at Boston University School of Medicine for a highly talented and motivated candidate willing to address fundamental questions in post-transcriptional regulation of RNA in viruses and vertebrate systems.

The available projects involve uncovering 1) novel RNA-protein interactions, 2) microRNA regulatory networks and 3) epitranscriptomic modifications in zebrafish and several viruses relevant to human health. Our long-term goal is to integrate these mechanisms into a single post-transcriptional regulatory framework.

To address these goals, the lab combines iCLIP and CRISPR mutagenesis together with other powerful genetic, genomic, and proteomic approaches applied to zebrafish and several viruses. We are located in a renovated lab space at Boston University School of Medicine in the Department of Biochemistry, with close access to scientific core facilities and immersed in the lively city of Boston.

Candidates should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and at least a first author publication. Strong experience in molecular biology is required and knowledge of computational biology will be a plus, but even more important is their motivation to learn and adapt to scientific challenges and become positive members of the lab. The position is funded for at least three years, contingent on performance. Additional information can be found at http://www.bumc.bu.edu/biochemistry/people/faculty/daniel-cifuentes/

To apply please submit a cover letter stating research interests and accomplishments, CV, and contact information for three references. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
