Position Description:    

The Computer Science Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences to begin in Fall 2019. We seek candidates with teaching and research interests in any area of Computer Science. Initial appointment to this position will be for a term of four years, beginning Fall of 2019, and will carry the rank of assistant professor.

The incumbent will teach the standard teaching load (4.5 course equivalents per year, with labs counting towards the total) at all levels of undergraduate Computer Science and specialize in one area of Computer Science.

Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2019-2020). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching, including the supervision of student research. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Experience working with, teaching, and/or mentoring diverse groups or diverse students is valued. We actively seek candidates who will foster the diversity of the campus, department, or curriculum.

The imcumbent will also be expected to engage in sustained scholarly research and/or other creative work appropriate to the position and participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including academic advising and service on committees.

The Computer Science department will have 7 faculty (including this position) with research interests spanning the areas of algorithmic game theory, computer graphics,privacy,security, machine learning, human-computer interaction and computer science education. Our CS majors are enthusiastic and actively engaged in their education, and many of them go on to earn advanced degrees from leading CS graduate programs.
