Faculty Position in
Health Informatics and Implementation Science


The University of Massachusetts Medical School is recruiting outstanding candidates for an Assistant Professor faculty position with a primary appointment in a rapidly growing Division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences. The successful candidate is expected to establish a record as an independent investigator with federal grant funding.

Position responsibilities:
Individuals will be expected to maintain an extramurally funded health informatics research program, teach in graduate courses, and engage in health informatics activities on campus. Major divisional thematic areas with current federal funding include patient facing technology research (personal health records, data mining, drug surveillance, and mobile health), translational research, and innovations in phenotypic data warehousing, natural language processing, information retrieval, and machine learning.

We are interested in candidates who are in the area of Big Data Science - natural language processing, machine learning, agent-based modeling, information extraction and retrieval, with a particular interest and experience in applying these skills in the area of implementation research and the “Learning Healthcare System.” Prior training and experience in biomedical informatics, patient technology, and implementation research is desirable.

Required Teaching/Research/Clinical Specialty:
Successful candidates should have a PhD, or equivalent degree, experience with biomedical informatics, computer science, and implementation science.
