General Information

Chapman University’s graduate program in Physician Assistant Studies seeks applications for a Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor within Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, beginning, January (Spring) 2019.

The PA program is located on the new Rinker Health Science campus in Irvine, California. This campus is designed to foster an inter-professional educational environment and to use cutting edge technology in teaching and practice. The campus features state of the art facilities, including a human cadaver anatomy laboratory, advanced learning center with innovative technology, Grand Rounds auditorium with 3D projection capabilities, simulation lab, multi-sized classrooms, a medical library, and collaborative work centers. The campus is home to several accredited graduate health science professional programs, including Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Doctor of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

Graduate of a fully accredited PA Program, NCCPA Certified, eligibility for or current unrestricted California PA licensure, and Master’s degree are required. 

Preference will be given to candidates who hold additional graduate degrees such as PhD, EdD, DHSc, MEd, MPH, etc. that would additionally benefit PA Education. Experience in teaching, educational and clinical practice technologies, and inter-professional education is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Lecture in area(s) of expertise, direct/co-direct course(s), assist in curriculum development and student assessment, conduct clinical site visits and monitor student progress, assist in clinical site recruitment, advise PA students, provide professional and academic service, participate in University and community service, maintain clinical competency, assist in admissions process, participate in scholarly activities, participate in inter-professional educational experiences, participate in student society activities, and participate in accreditation requirements including ongoing program self-assessment, evaluation, and improvement. Assist in other tasks/responsibilities as directed by the Program Director and/or Dean of Crean College of Health & Behavioral Sciences.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for graduation of its first class (cohort) of students (December 2018). Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
