Part-time, 20 hours/week, one-year appointment  

This position is responsible for assisting a research team in quantitative analysis of a multi-level, longitudinal network data set. 

The range of duties includes but is not limited to: data management; data analysis, including model specification and calibration; quality control; and preparing publications and reports, oral presentations, or related products for use in communication, instruction, and public education. 

Candidates should have strong training in quantitative research methods and familiarity with social network analysis. This position requires excellent analytic skills; strong familiarity with R or SAS; the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing; the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team; and a strong commitment to quality and objectivity. 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies 
•Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative approaches to social science.  
•Proficiency in either R or SAS 
•Working knowledge of multi-level linear models and network analytic techniques. Preference given to individuals with experience in ERGM and SAOM models. 
•Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply the appropriate statistical techniques to analyze scientific survey data.  
•Broad understanding of natural resource management, human dimensions of wildfire a plus.
•Extensive knowledge of social science theory and methods and the scientific method.  
•Ability to prioritize program activities, plan and work independently and collaboratively, and complete projects in an accurate and timely manner. 
•Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  
•Ability to travel between research sites in the Triangle and attend team meetings 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in sociology, psychology, public administration/management/policy, natural resource management, or related fields (you may also apply if you are at the dissertation stage and expect to complete your PhD within 12 months) or Master in appropriate field with minimum four years additional experience in conducting social science research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience for 10 years total.

Salary: Commensurate with the individual’s experience.  

Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the USA. Visa sponsorship is not available.
