The School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut invites applications to fill a 10- month, non-tenure track faculty position at the Clinical Instructor or Assistant Clinical Professor level.

Under the direction of the Director of Simulation, the faculty member will have the following responsibilities: supervise pre-licensure students in simulations, provide fundamentals teaching support, develop simulation scenarios, set up labs and simulations, post-lab cleanup, monitor simulation and lab inventory and supplies, supervise open labs for student practice, make-ups, and remediation, and provide support and training for adjunct clinical faculty in the use of simulations and the Simulation Center.

The successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction and will also be expected to assist the University in its efforts to broaden participation among members of under- represented groups, to demonstrate through teaching and public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience, to integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools, and to provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.


  • Master’s degree in Nursing;
  • Current Connecticut state license as RN (valid as of the date of hire);
  • Three years of practice experience in a relevant clinical area;
  • Completion of required health indicators (MMR titers, TB status, Hepatitis B, and others as required) and CPR certification at the time of employment;
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship strategies.


  • Earned doctoral degree in Nursing;
  • Previous experience running clinical simulations;
  • Previous clinical teaching experience;
  • Previous teaching experience in an institution of higher education.


This is a 10-month, non-tenure track position subject to annual renewal based on program needs, funding, and performance. Rank and compensation package will be commensurate with background, qualifications, and experience. The successful candidate’s primary appointment will be at the Storrs campus, with the expectation that he/she may travel to assist at other School of Nursing Simulation Centers at Stamford, Waterbury, or Avery Point.
