The School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated faculty member to join our newly established bachelor of science in nursing program opening in the fall of 2019. We invite applicants to become part of our inaugural nursing program as part of the dynamic School of Health Sciences, established in 2017. Applications for a non-tenure track (Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor) faculty position in nursing beginning September 1, 2019 are now being requested. The School of Health Sciences consists of diverse undergraduate and graduate academic programs, state-of-art facilities and equipment, deep community partnerships, and multiple funded research initiatives from the National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, New Balance Foundation, Cummings Foundation, and more. The School of Health Sciences serves over 550 students majoring in six undergraduate programs including Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Public Health, Nutritional Science, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation Science. The School also has rapidly expanding graduate programs with over 100 students in Health and Wellness Management, Exercise and Sport Science, Community Health Education and Athletic Training. In addition to the recently retrofitted 36,000 sq. foot O’Reilly Hall, which is home to the School of Health Sciences, plans are underway to build an adjacent facility to house the nursing program, including an expansive simulation and clinical education center.

Description: The ideal candidate should be highly experienced and skilled in undergraduate nursing curriculum and course development, NCLEX preparation and testing, and clinical and didactic instruction in their field of expertise. We are particularly interested in an established nursing scholar and clinician who is entrepreneurial and possess the ability to effectively network to help grow clinical affiliation partnerships within the surrounding communities. Experience in simulation development, implementation and evaluation would be a plus. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in their area of specialty; advise students; contribute to curriculum and policy development, governance and evaluation of all nursing program components; and support clinical partnerships.

Qualifications: The Full-Time Nursing Faculty must satisfy the following minimum qualifications: 1. Master’s degree in nursing required; a doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred; and 2. Possess a minimum of two years of full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction 3. Knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluation, or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills no later than the first year of teaching; and 4. Current/unencumbered Massachusetts state RN license, healthcare provider CPR and immunizations as recommended by the Massachusetts Department of Health. 5. Nursing education experience preferred. 6. We are looking for teaching-scholars who have a strong desire for an academic appointment focused on advancing knowledge through integrating teaching, research, and service learning. The ability to serve as student mentors and create immersive learning and professional development experiences is a must. Candidates will present strong evidence of successful teaching and excellent growth potential for conducting scholarship in their area of expertise.
