Wykeham Professor of Physics Department of Physics in association with New College, University of Oxford

The University seeks to appoint a world-class theorist, in any area of theoretical physics, to the Wykeham Professorship in the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics, in the Department of Physics, with effect from 1 October 2019 or as soon thereafter as possible. The successful candidate will also be offered a Professorial Fellowship at New College, under arrangements described in the Further Particulars.

The Wykeham Professorship is a premier appointment, one of eight Statutory Chairs in the Department of Physics. You will join a lively and stimulating research community that performs at the highest international levels in research and publications and will have access to the excellent research facilities which Oxford offers including an exceptional new building. You will provide outstanding intellectual leadership and play a prominent role in shaping the future research strategy of the centre. You will conduct world-leading original research and attract significant research funding. A commitment to excellence in teaching is essential.
