Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges, invites applications for a one-year, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor position in Media Studies, integrating media theory/history and production and beginning Fall 2019. This position will entail the following teaching requirements: 1 introductory level media theory course, 1-2 introductory level media production courses, 1-2 intermediate/advanced media production courses, and 1-2 intermediate level media history/theory courses, for a total 5-course load.

Applicants should have teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areas: feminist media theory and practice; digital and new media technologies; Indigenous, Middle East, South Asia, as well as their respective transnational media cultures, networks, and/or diasporas. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine media theory and history with practice; is engaged in media activism and forms of community-engagement in their work; and can perform global and location comparative analysis of media. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and/or MFA by the time of appointment, and college-level teaching experience.
